Which TripAdvisor Review Card Should I Choose?

Collecting Tripadvisor reviews for guest acquisition

Hotels, restaurants, and other hospitality venues that prioritize attracting new guests often collect guest reviews. New guests and tourists typically choose a location for a romantic dinner or vacation stay based on the reviews it has received.

One of the most common ways to check reviews is by browsing TripAdvisor profiles. When searching for a location on Google, TripAdvisor's aggregator page is usually one of the first results that appears. This makes it an excellent starting point for selecting a location, as it provides all the essential information needed for an objective comparison. One of the most crucial aspects is the feedback and experiences shared by previous guests.

How to collect feedback from guests?

The most efficient way is to automate the process. It’s essential that guests can easily access your TripAdvisor page. The simplest way to do this is through a TripAdvisor review collection card or display (sign). With this, a guest can leave a review with just a tap in seconds.

How does NFC work?

The system relies on NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, which allows wireless communication between the card and smartphones. Simply holding a smartphone a few centimeters away from the card sends the necessary information to the device. In practice, this means that when a phone is brought near the NFC sign or card, it automatically loads the TripAdvisor review page in the phone's browser, without the guest needing to click on anything. Nowadays, almost every smartphone has NFC, as it is also used for mobile payments. If NFC isn’t an option, scanning the QR code on the review sign or card will also immediately direct the user to the review page.

What Tripadvisor rating solutions exist?

Based on experience, we recommend two types of NFC and QR code-enabled smart solutions.

1. TripAdvisor Review NFC Card

This is a plastic card the size of a credit card. The front can feature the TripAdvisor logo, or for custom orders, the logo of the restaurant, hotel, etc., can be integrated into the design. The back also includes a QR code. This option is recommended if you want to equip staff with these cards. It’s common for waiters to personally ask satisfied guests to support their work by leaving a review. The advantage is that the waiter can choose whose phone they tap the NFC card against. The downside is that it requires active personal involvement.

2. TripAdvisor Review NFC Display / Table Sign

These signs are produced in A6 size (105 x 148.5 mm // 4.1 x 5.8 inches). The quality of a Restaurant / Hotel is also judged by the decorative elements used at the reception desk, bar, or restaurant tables. Unlike many mass-produced plastic signs from China, we use high-quality PVC material and handcrafted, painted wooden bases (made in Europe).

The advantage of the sign is that it is always in front of the guest, and as we know, people love to touch everything on the table. It's almost guaranteed that they’ll tap the NFC sign or scan the QR code, providing valuable feedback without needing to draw attention to it. The downside, of course, is inherent to this method. You can't choose who leaves a review, but a quality service provider shouldn’t worry about that. The key is to gather as many reviews as possible because guests prefer to visit places that others also frequent. Therefore, the quantity of new reviews is just as important as their quality.
