Sustainable Development Goals with Smart NFC Cards

SDG, or Sustainable Development Goals. When observing current corporate trends, it is noticeable that development strategies and communications are increasingly built around these goals.

But what exactly are SDG?

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are a framework developed by the United Nations aiming to set the world's development path towards sustainability by 2030. These goals are defined in 17 global objectives:

  1. No Poverty
  2. Zero Hunger
  3. Good Health and Well-being
  4. Quality Education
  5. Gender Equality
  6. Clean Water and Sanitation
  7. Affordable and Clean Energy
  8. Decent Work and Economic Growth
  9. Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
  10. Reduced Inequality
  11. Sustainable Cities and Communities
  12. Responsible Consumption and Production
  13. Climate Action
  14. Life Below Water
  15. Life on Land
  16. Peace and Justice Strong Institutions
  17. Partnerships to achieve the Goals

Achieving and properly communicating these goals can significantly contribute to building a positive corporate image, increasing customer trust, and supporting sustainability, thereby contributing to long-term business success.

We found our business goals supporting sustainability in promoting digitalization and developing NFC-based smart products.
But how can a digital business card / ClickMe Smart Card help a company's operations in all this?

SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

Dynamic content can be placed on our NFC and QR code-based cards. For a digital business card, this means that if an employee's details change, such as phone number or position, these can be updated online at any time. The next time the card is scanned, the updated information will be displayed on our partner's smartphone. This is not the case with paper business cards. Employees receive their printed stock of potentially hundreds of cards, and with a minor change, they all go to waste, and the company orders a new batch. The fate of the purposefully used business cards is likely similar. During business meetings, we hand them over to our partners, and we also leave with a good stack of paper slips. These probably end up in our car's side pocket or on our office desk, eventually landing in the trash, hopefully in the recycling bin. In contrast, a single digital business card can be used almost indefinitely since we do not pass it on, only the digital information on it is transferred to our partner's phone, where it becomes searchable at any time via their mobile contacts.

SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure

With NFC technology, we can innovate in numerous areas. This SIM card-sized chip can be embedded in plastic cards, access cards, keychains, and countless other products, making them digitally smart. Our company-developed NFC management software allows us to display almost any information through these chips. For example, placed on our own product, users can instantly access the user manual in virtually any language. Additionally, we can smarten our work tools, place video tutorials or instant help options on industrial machinery, thereby minimizing the risk of misuse.

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

Cost-effective digital solutions can greatly contribute to economic growth. Additionally, they can play a significant role in optimizing workflows if we build automations around them. For instance, it is much more efficient if new clients are directed to online registration via an NFC Smart Card, rather than having a receptionist manually enter each paper-based registration into the computer.

SDG 4: Quality Education

A Smart Card can hold a wealth of information. Besides contact details, it can include company introductions, videos, PDF documents, or even complete training materials. Online educational materials, unlike paper-based ones, can be modified and updated at any time, and student progress can be tracked much more accurately.

SDG 17: Partnerships to achieve the Goals

NFC technology is very prevalent in industrial use, but not yet widely adopted by consumers. Our common goal is to integrate it into everyday use through corporate partnerships, thereby eliminating thoughtless and often unnecessary paper usage. Just think about how many brochures promoting local businesses can be found in a tourist office or a hotel room. With our Smart Guest Card, all of this can be avoided, as the guest can access all useful information with a single tap, whether it is about local attractions, programs, partner company promotions, or even the local Wi-Fi code. 🙂
